Those Who Help You Tell Your Story

Molly Flanagan, Intern (Supervised by Shayna Warner, #2020000398)

We live in a culture that values productivity, independence, and conformity. We exist under impossible standards and yet we are expected to keep up. Resisting this can feel daunting and lonely. We are not machines. We are humans who are meant to live in connection with each other while embodying our true, authentic selves. You are your own expert. Together, we can gently (re)discover what has been buried for the sake of survival—your values, your longings—so that your inner world and outer world align. This is the kind of work that I believe is transformative—both individually and collectively.

As a queer, larger bodied, woman and adoptive mother, all of my identities inform how I show up as a therapist. I practice from a trauma informed, anti-oppressive lens and am interested in working with issues around anxiety, depression, toxic stress, parenting, trauma, burnout and deconstructing from religion. I have a particular interest in working with LGBTQIA+ persons, queer and/or foster/adoptive parents, and womxn/mothers who are looking to discover/rediscover their identity and take up the space they deserve.

My approach is relational, grounded in both attachment and feminist theory. I also love incorporating education and work around the nervous system into sessions. If you are interested in working together, please reach out. I can’t wait to meet you!
